Performance - Chat

Adjust chat responsiveness and load handling to suit your system and preferences.

Updated over 2 weeks ago

If you want your chat to feel snappy or need to optimize it for better performance on lower-end devices, this section is for you. The Performance tab in the 7TV extension settings gives you control over how quickly messages load, scroll, and how many are stored at a time.

Message Batching

Adjusts the delay between rendering new messages. Lower values give you ultra-responsive chat updates, while higher values help reduce lag or stuttering during heavy message flow. A higher batching value can make your chat more readable, but slightly less real-time.

Smooth Scroll Chat

When enabled, new messages smoothly slide into place instead of appearing abruptly. It adds a slick visual effect but may affect overall performance β€” especially on less powerful systems.

Message Buffer Capacity

Defines how many messages can be stored in the chat history at once. A higher number means you can scroll back further, but it could impact performance, especially during busy streams.
