How to Become an Editor for Another Channel

If someone has invited you to help manage their 7TV channel, you can become an editor by accepting their request.

Updated over 3 weeks ago

Accepting an Editor Invitation

  1. Navigate to your Editor Settings.

  2. Under the Editing For section, you’ll see a list of channels that have added you.

  3. Look for any invitations marked as Pending and click to accept.

Once accepted, you’ll gain access to the channel’s editor tools based on the permissions assigned.

Managing Channels You Edit For

When you are an editor for other channels, most of 7TV's key actions — such as adding or removing emotes, switching active sets, and setting default sets — will present you with a list of the channels you edit for, allowing you to perform those actions on their behalf.

For example, when adding an emote to a set, you'll see not only your own sets but also the sets belonging to any channel you edit for, grouped by channel name. Simply select the appropriate set from the relevant channel and confirm.

Admin Access

If a channel owner has granted you Admin permissions, you'll have broader management capabilities for that channel. This can include actions such as:

  • Adding or removing emote sets

  • Removing emotes from a channel's active set

  • Managing other editors (if the Manage Editors permission is granted)

All available actions are determined entirely by the permissions assigned to you by the channel owner. If you find you're unable to perform a specific action, reach out to the channel owner to check your permission level.

Removing Yourself as an Editor

If you no longer wish to be an editor for a channel:

  1. Return to the Editors > Editing For tab.

  2. Click the trash icon next to the channel.

  3. Confirm your choice to leave.
