What Are Editors on 7TV?

Learn what editors can do and how they help manage your 7TV channel.

Updated over 2 weeks ago

Editors are users you trust to help manage your 7TV channel. They’re granted special permissions that allow them to make updates on your behalf, such as editing emote sets, managing your profile, or organizing your emote library — without needing full access to your account.

What Can Editors Do?

When assigning an editor, you can fine-tune their permissions using a detailed permissions panel. Here's a breakdown of the available options:

Emote Sets

  • Admin: Full control over emote sets, including deleting or modifying ownership.

  • Create: Allows the user to create new emote sets.

  • Manage: Grants permission to edit existing emote sets.

Emotes

  • Admin: Full control over all emotes, including deletions or ownership transfers.

  • Create: Allows the user to upload new emotes.

  • Manage: Permission to organize or edit emotes within sets.

  • Transfer: Ability to move emotes between sets or users.

User Permissions

  • Admin: General administrative control over channel-level settings.

  • Manage Profile: Lets the editor change your display name and profile picture.

  • Manage Personal Emote Set: Permission to handle your personal emote set.

  • Manage Billing: Access to payment and billing settings (use with caution).

  • Manage Editors: Allows the editor to add or remove other editors.

Super Admin

  • Grants every permission available. Only assign this to highly trusted users.

Do Editors Have Full Access to My Account?

No — editors can only access the areas you explicitly allow when setting their permissions. They cannot:

  • Log in as you

  • Access your login credentials

  • Automatically manage billing or other editors (unless granted)

Why Use Editors?

  • Collaborate with community mods, artists, or managers

  • Delegate emote and channel management

  • Keep your 7TV content fresh without handling everything yourself
